BC/EFA: BROADWAY BARES 2017

Today, we're featuring the guys from "Psych Major" in this year's Stripathon for Broadway Bares, benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Click any picture in this post to donate to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS today. The guys stripped down and wore the Fit for Broadway signature design and snagged donations on the Highline!

The money raised by each performer in Broadway Bares will help provide lifesaving medications, nutritious meals, health care, counseling, emergency financial assistance and so much more to men, women and children in all 50 states living with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

Broadway Cares also is the single largest financial supporter of the essential social service programs of The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative and the Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts.

The guys are sharing their #BEforBroadway moment and their Top 3 tips for living Fit for Broadway! Enjoy!!

JOSH DRAKE

Broadway inspires me to BE comfortable in my own skin!

  1. Absolutely, everyday, without fail, listen to your body.

  2. Find a diet that makes both happy and healthy. 8 shows a week will try and take you down, but with a strong immune system it will fail!

  3. Your mind must be fit as well, so remember that you're never finished learning. No matter the level of your success, you can always progress by acknowledging a new lesson with an open mind.

AMAKER SMITH

Broadway inspires me to BE excellent.

I went to an equity diversity meeting and Brian Stokes Mitchell was guest speaking. He said, be excellent in everything you do and that always stuck with me. Not to be confused with perfection. There is no such thing and we won't be 100% all the time. Some days, we may only have 50% but be excellent in that 50%.

  1. drink a lot of water (what ever you think a lot is, double it!)

  2. eat food that nourishes your body. You literally are what u eat

  3. and find time to be still and listen. We often get consumed with being on the go but the most creative moments happen when we unplug from our devices and take time to experience

TAYLOR COLLINS

Broadway inspires me to BE passionate.

Growing up my dad always used to tell us to always have drive and to always have focus in anything we do in life. We may have hurdles, but you always have to have that fire inside you. And that's what will lead you to your greatest dreams.

  1. always be open minded. Some of the greatest pay offs have come from a leap of faith

  2. always take care of yourself first. It's it's great to help others, but you only have one body and one mind like everyone else.

  3. reward yourself occasionally. You may be on a hard diet or struggling to reach fitness goals, but slow and steady always wins the race. Enjoy the journey

TIM ROLLER

Broadway inspires me to BE a leader.

I want to make an impact on my community. I hope to encourage and challenge people to be their best. And I always try to be a source of positivity and compassion.

  1. Work hard and show up prepared.

  2. Find a hobby you love. We all get down when an audition or gig doesn't pan out the way we imagined. Being able to immerse yourself in something you love is invaluable.

  3. Trust yourself.

LUKE ANTHONY

Broadway inspires me to BE PART OF THE SOLUTION.

Participating in Bares has really inspired me to use art as a form of activism. Raising money for BCEFA along with seeing things like to protests at the PUBLIC, the cast of Hamilton's statement to Mike Pence, or Patti LuPone's refusal to perform for Trump resonated deeply with me as an artist. I hope one day I can effect positive change in the world with my art.

  1. Listen to your body

  2. Don't be afraid to lift heavy

  3. Always make time for recovery: stretch, ice, rollout, relax.

Shoutout to my gals, Ahren and Michelle, for helping me paint the "Fit for Broadway" Signature Design on these handsome guys! Also, shoutout to those who donated on the Highline during our photoshoot... the guys raised $26! Every bit counts!!
