Welcome
Hi!
Welcome to Discovering Your He(art)! Over the next 11 days, we will explore the connection of self and art; in other words, he(art). On each day of the workshop, I share the daily themes and exercises through written, audio, and video guides and I encourage you to engage with all three mediums.
This workshop isn’t meant to feel like an audition or a test. You can totally release the pressure off of yourself and move through the workshop in a way that feels good to you. The only suggestion I’ll make is bringing your whole self as you apply these themes and exercises to your life. I’m definitely not here to force you to finish the workshop but everything I am sharing with you in this workshop has genuinely empowered me to lead my life in a more meaningfully way and that it what I hope to extend to you as you journey through this workshop.
My journey to discovering my he(art) started about 12 years ago. I had just moved to NYC and was getting lost in it all. Everything was busy, loud, fast, and SHOWY. Not at all how I had imagined my journey creating theatre. So I took it upon myself to start creating and taking part in art and theatre how I had always imagined it, with heart. Every day since I have worked hard to bring my open and honest self into my work. Manifesting safe places where I can feel free to bare all and show my heart to others. And most importantly, to show it to myself. The next 11 days will hopefully act as a gentle guide to help you find your he(art).
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learnt is KEEP GOING. Life is going to throw a lot of hard things your way and we will explore why those things happen for you, not to you. But you are strong and resilient AF. This workshop is a metaphorical and literal process of putting one foot in front of the other towards the life that is uniquely laid out just for you.
Part of the experience of creating this workshop felt totally weird; "guiding you" through something I myself practice and struggle through every day. That feeling of unworthiness led me to reflect on the idea of legacy. In a world that is dominated by likes and follows and comparison, the idea of leaving anything meaningful behind can feel challenging. If I dig deep, and we will throughout this workshop, my personal legacy is kindness and good work. I want to be known for accepting everyone, showing love, showing up and doing good work. No matter what the job is. And I want this workshop to be a space where you can explore your legacy.
I have been put through the wringer. Life has not been easy. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes when I was 8 years old. Being told by doctors that you would be lucky to live past 21 makes you grow up fast. It makes you look at the world differently. I face anxiety and depression because of this and because of the stress my job puts me under constantly. But you can choose to be bitter or you can choose to be better. And I continually choose better. I choose day after day to show up. When I don’t show up fully, whether that’s physically or energetically, I feel closed off. Cold and isolated from the people around me. When I do show up, when I make sure to align with my he(art), I feel warmth, joy, and love.
Please be mindful that this workshop can bring up intense feelings or the need for support. That is totally ok! I highly recommend seeking support when and how you need whether that is through a friend, a parent, an adult you trust, or a professional. We all need extra support from time to time and there is nothing wrong with that, it makes us human!! Make sure to care for yourself during this introspective work and call on support if you need it.
This workshop is yours forever. It is an invitation to practice showing up in a meaningful way. Revisit the lessons anytime.
So glad you’re here!
With love,
Caitlin

Things to consider:
set your stage: As you travel through the workshop, it’s important to have a space that is just for you so you can fully express and self-discover! Imagine it’s your personal stage to expand and shine. This could be an area of your house, your room, a place in nature, or somewhere where you can engage in the workshop uninterrupted. It’s also totally ok to plug in your headphones and listen on the go, before an audition, in a library, or coffee shop if that’s what’s available to you that day. However, be mindful that many of the exercises are quite personal so making space for solitude is really valuable to getting the most out of the lessons in the workshop. After all, this workshop is about discovering your he(art) and in order to do that you need to set a space, your “stage”, where you can be totally you!
schedule: Move through this workshop day by day or at a pace that’s comfortable for you. I highly recommend taking time to let the lessons integrate day by day so not skipping ahead or rushing through each day’s lesson & exercises. This ensures that you give enough space, energy, and time needed to fully absorb everything we will cover together.

Things to remember:
Revisit the entire workshop as often as you need or revisit lessons that you want to go deeper on with regularity. We don’t consider this a one and done experience. It’s here for you whenever you need to discover your he(art). An example of a really great way to use this with regularity is listening to one of your favorite audio exercises before an audition or when you need a pick-me-up!
This workshop is yours and can be incredibly beneficial if you allow yourself the process of self-discovery. That requires a certain level of time and commitment to engage. Meaning, you can simply watch, read and listen to each day but the full experience is practicing the exercises and applying the themes we explore together. That’s really where the magic is! Find comfort knowing I am also practicing these tools daily.
Each day can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour (or more) to watch, read, listen, and practice depending on how much time you want to spend journaling and in the self-discovery. This is meant to be an opportunity for you to connect and learn at a pace and flow that is unique to you. It’s about showing up fully and exploring each day with intention and that will look different for everyone. Trust your process.
Each day consists of Video, Written, and/or Audio content. Make sure to watch, read, and listen to all segments for the day you’re focused on as there are various exercises and tools for you in each piece of content.
