#FFB: Synthia Link

This gorgeous girl finds time to do it all! She is not only a fantastic performer, but a nutritionist, blogger, and exercise enthusiast. A few weeks ago, I tried Body by Simone for the first time and Synthia was in my class unconsciously motivating me the entire time. With incredible dedication and discipline,

Synthia is FIT FOR BROADWAY!

BIOGRAPHY: Hi!!! I'm originally from Long Island New York where I got bit by the acting/dancing bug. My mom used to take me into New York to see Broadway shows, and I instantly knew that was what I would do when I grew up! I attended Marymount Manhattan College to study musical theatre. During my senior year, I was cast as a Radio City Rockette. I took a semester off, performed the show, and came back to school where I graduated in 2008! After graduation, I auditioned for the 1st National Tour of "Young Frankenstein", and booked the role of Inga. I toured with the show for a year and that experience truly changed my life. Soon after, my dream of being on Broadway came true when I was cast in "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying"! Since then, I have been lucky enough to be in Broadways "Big Fish", and now "Bullets Over Broadway." Each experience has been uniquely amazing and there is not a day that goes by where I am not truly grateful! When I'm not singing and dancing, I'm in the kitchen cooking healthy food (check out my blog...www.cookiestokale.com), nurturing my workout addiction, or planning my WEDDING!!!!!!

INTERVIEW:

Q: What is the most physically challenging part of performing?
A: The schedule. Doing the same show 8 times a week is demanding on it's own. Then add real life to the picture and it gets crazy! Most of us work out daily, on top of dancing every night. It is important to find balance, and to listen to your body.

Q: How do you keep your voice healthy?

A: I always make sure to vocalize before I have to sing. I also don't drink or smoke.

Q: Do you follow a specific diet?

A: I eat really clean. I'm a pescaterian (Only meat is fish) No gluten, LOW Dairy (really only greek yogurt) lots of fruit and veggies, and I only drink water

Q: What is your favorite energy-boosting snack/meal?

A: Suzies quinoa rice cakes (they're the best!) with 1/2 tbs sunflower seed butter and a half of a banana sliced on top.

Q: What is your favorite late night snack after performances?

A: Veggies dipped in salsa

Q: What is your best advice/strategies to fight fatigue?

A: Don't starve yourself! ALWAYS have snacks on hand

Q: What is your best advice for stage confidence?

A: Just be yourself. Know that you are an individual and be excited to bring your personality to each and every character.

Q: Who or what inspires you?

A: My Fiance. He constantly reminds me of how far I've come, and always keeps me motivated and focused.. He is also the hardest working man I know (he is about to graduate Law school)

Q: How does your physical fitness affect your performance abilities?

A: It affects it 100%. In order to perform a physically demanding show, your body has to be up to the task. That requires constant dedication and care. Working out, eating right, sleeping enough... this all lends to being a strong performer.

Q: Tips on finding the time to stay physically/vocally fit?

A: Dedication

Q: What is your advice for those trying to perform on Broadway?

A: Never give up. I know it's cliche, but if you never try you will never get there. You also have to put yourself out there. If you are too afraid to go to that audition then there is no way you are going to get the job. Believe in yourself and in your talent.

Q: I love your blog cookiestokale.com! Can you tell me a little bit about it?

A: I've always been passionate about heathy eating. I love to come up with yummy creations in the kitchen. I truly believe that healthy food can and should taste good!

Last year, I embarked on a journey to become a health coach. I wanted to be able to help people who wanted to change their lives, get healthy, and reach their goals.

I created www.cookiestokale.com as a way to help clients, friends and family who were interested in cleaning up their diet! It's got lots of my favorite recipes, workout tips, and daily musings from my personal life! The site is always a work in progress, but I've been having a lot of fun with it!

Q: And what's your favorite recipe so far?

A: I've got so many! If I had to chose three:

Green protein bowl

Guilt free Creamy Alfredo

Frozen chocolate cheesecake bites

Frozen Chocolate Cheesecake Bites
